Does anyone here know anything about psychology?

I'm just curious. I want to find more information on it for my story I am writing. Wiki is a bit too complicated for me to understand and I was wondering if anyone maybe knew anything about it or few sites that explained it more in easier details.

Pick me! Pick me!
It's good to meet you Kimi! I'm writing a story as well (or at least trying to) and psychology has come in very useful. It depends what kind of psychology, though. If it's abnormal psychology, I've got you covered. Freudian or Jungian psychology, not so much.
What would you like to know?

hahaha... but anyway, I'm not really sure to be exact. I only know very little about it, that's the thing. I mean my story has a few empaths and I was thinking of how psychology might be helpful in training them because the emotional and learning about the mind and body works would benefit...
I'm just confused is all... kind of hard to process what Psychology is when wiki is filled with complicated words that I can barely understand. TT^TT I mean the pictures are distracting...

Hmmm.... That's a complicated idea.
I imagine that it would all depend on how the empaths in your story work. For example, do they read minds, or do they just pick up on feelings? Another good question might be, if they don't want to read someone's mind (or feel others' feelings), can they block it out?
Just as a side note, by "empaths" do you mean people with some sort of superhuman or supernatural gift, or just someone who has really strong empathy?

Well, for me, I'm an empath in real life. I know this because I have an easier time sensing the emotions and stress levels of my friends. I know when something is going to happen or when something is wrong and it heightens my emotions... like I can detect something is very wrong. I can also sense spirits or some other 'being' there with me that I don't recognize.
My other characters, of my friends, one is an empath in training. She can heal some but only if that friend is having a hard time and her abilities still aren't developed yet.
My second friend's character, she can see dead people and know their date and time of death... as well as being able to sometimes predict the future... and she sees spirits. She is also an empath, much higher than me and she can sense when something is wrong.
That's really all I have gathered.

The classes in psychology I've had work on dispelling anything paranormal, you'd have to get creative and invent some of your own psychology. I'd look up jungian psychology or better yet, the Enneagram, the Enneagram is about as scientific as you can get about personality types (which are difficult to quantify). Knowing about the basic structure and function of the brain's regions might also come in handy, Psychologists and Neurologists love studying people with brain damage to determine the function of that brain region, it's still a young field.
Sorry for the slight delay in my responding. I know someone in real life who can also do this. It's cool and kind of unnerving at the same time. This is a great premise for a character!
Just out of curiousity, by "of my friends", do you mean that this character is based on a real person who is a friend of yours?
That's really all I have gathered.
So these two characters are both naturally very sensitive and also have atypical (for lack of a better word) abilities. This is majorly cool!
In answer to your original question about psychology, I think that if they were to pursue this it would be more in the field of parapsychology (studying paranormal stuff like telepathy, premonitions, and so on).
The first character may have to learn how to diagnose a problem before she heals it. But maybe not, since I don't really know much about the way healing works in real life. For instance, she may need to judge whether a problem is physical, or if its all in the person's head.
I don't think the second character would need to know much about psychology. It would be good for her to be able to predict how the dead people would respond to her, but she could probably learn that just with practice. And anyway, it's not the kind of thing they would teach in psychology (or even parapsychology) class.

Yeah, most of my characters I am basing on my circle of friends. I have a few friends I relate to because they understand me, even though not in the spectrum, kind of how hard life is and whatever... that sort of thing.
Edit: Oh yeah! That would make sense. I was thinking it be like a class they take, which is why I was wondering.
