The math is overwhelming me, and I have to take this before the GRE overhaul in August. I'm taking this Kaplan GRE program, which I had extended to take advantage of the material on the website, but I'm still not confident, especially for the math part. Any suggestions?

do the math in GRE powerprep... I scored around the same scores on the actual test and GRE powerprep

My GRE math was very simple... I gave it twice and scored 700 on math both the times... but I am weak at math..

Goodluck! :)

Scored a 660 on the verbal and a 510 on the math.......<sigh>

You'd think poli-sci grad programs wouldn't care about your math score, but they do :(

That's probably what's gonna end up in my case. I'd be happy with a 1200 over all. Yeah, I could.

Don't sweat it. Do practice up [we ran a couple of dry runs with simulated tests with Number 1 Son]. But you will do best going in calm - and so you asre three percentiles off your hpoal, big deal. I know people who completely messed up first time around who are big in academia even as we speak. There is always a way out of the maze.

Try to apply for extended time, particularly on the math section. I was allowed extended time when I took the GRE, due to my Asperger's and Nonverbal Learning Disorder. It helped a great deal. I scored much higher on the math section than I ever would have without the extra time, and I really did need all of the extra time. I finished with only two minutes remaining. It's kind of a pain/hassle to apply for accommodations, because you have to go through IQ and achievement tests and such, but it's worth it to better your score. When I try again in the future to get into grad school (and need to re-take the GRE), I plan on getting accommodations again.

I too have Non-Verbal Learning Disorder, but I just didn't feel like going through all the red tape necessary to get extra time. I was trying to start grad school in the spring semester, which is already difficult without trying to get extra time on the GRE.

Given how useless my master's has turned out to be, maybe I should've gotten the extra time. Then again, I'm not sure getting the same degree from a better school would've made me any more employable.
