UH! I was reading the Spanish syllabus for Fall 2011 classes and it mentions "group activites." How did you handle "group activites in school? This is for a college course BTW. We are supposed to learn to write and speak in spanish. Any tips? I don't want to say something stupid/rude upsetting to a fellow classmate but I don't want to come off as I'm not doing any of the work and not helping BUT you don't want to come off as a "know it all" and do it all yourself OR have a meltdown if you/X person don't do well in the group. Perhaps of course ask the question what "group activites" involves then go from there. Thought I'd ask WP some advice though.

Group activities for most language classes means you get bunched into groups to practice the words you've learned.

I hope for your sanity your teacher isn't Puerto Rican ;)

I find telling myself to 'relax' before each class helps; although it may seem like it, you don't need to talk all the time and sometimes it's best to listen (and appear to be listening). If you have a habit of taking over/being a know it all then force yourself occasionally to sit back and listen to others and agree with them (even if it mightn't be what you'd do). It also looks well if you try to include quieter members in the discussion (i.e. 'what do you think X?')

And don't get stressed. Even if you are a 'know it all', plenty of NTs are too, and nobody's going to mark you down for it.

If you're that worried, then yeah, ask the course, but honestly don't stress out about it. Play it by ear and you might find it's quite fun (even if stressful!)
