Unlike other classes, math classes seemed to be filled with people who want to yell out the answers. When the teacher asks a question, even if it sounds rhetorical, they blurt out the answers. It is amazing and it seemed almost like magic until I started considering my AS. And these people are actually *learning* as they are carrying on this giant conversation with the teacher and other classmates. So what do I do now? I simply stare at my notebook and the open pages in the book until class is up, taking any quizzes and tests if there are any that day, and the time I spend actually learning my math lesson--it's after class in my dorm, at the library, or at the math tutoring center.

Does anyone have a similar experience? And what is your strategy, if you have one?

EDIT: Grammar and spelling.

That's *exactly* how my math classes were, back in 1965. Eventually I tried joining in, but the teacher called that disruptive (the right answer puts an end to the shouting match) and told me to go back to reading my book.
