I'm currently a junior in high school attending a college prep high school in North Carolina. Since I'm in my 2nd semester of junior year, I have to start thinking about options for college. Right now, I'm so confused.

The main thing I need to figure out is if I want to go to a small liberal arts school, a medium size school, or a large research university and if I want to stay close to home (meaning going to school in the NC, VA, Washington DC, and MD area) or if I want to be a plane ride away from home.

For those of you who have gone through this process, what has worked best for you? What types of colleges/universities have been best for you? Any particular schools?

Helpful info:

I want to go straight to a 4 year college/university in the fall after my high school graduation.

My current GPA is 3.76 unweighted/4.05 weighted

The last time I took the SAT was my sophomore year and I scored an 1880 on all three sections, 1240 on critical reading and math. (I will be taking it again before the summer, and I will take the ACT for the first time next month.)

I'm pretty comfortable with making friends and basic social interactions.

I'm interested in majoring in Film Studies/Cinema Studies. I know that's not available everywhere, so English is my alternative to that.

Look at some small LACs, they tend to have a student body of quirky, oddball types. I know I've applied to one (for transfer) and hoping I get into it!
