You know how people learn better through mostly practice, and moderate amounts of theory? Well, my computer networking class is all theory, no practice. It's extremely hard for me to really learn from it, too; I just read books, take notes, do online assignments, and forget most of what I "learned" the following week.

I never wanted to take this subject, but I had to for my computer science degree (I aimed to become a software programmer).

It reminds me of those horror stories of how american programming classes are the same, but thankfully the programming classes I took weren't too theory-heavy.

Any of you had similar experiences? I'd be surprised if any of you under the Finnish educational system have gone through this kind of stuff, too...

I've gotten lost in a lot of classes simply due to how they're structured. I eventually found my way, but I know how it feels.

I might have been through classes with similar content if you want someone to talk to discuss questions with.
