I need to know something about the cost of going to school:

Is it normal to spend between $15,000 and $20,000 per year to go to college out-of-state? This would include room and board, and books, and tuition.

I did an estimate on how much it would go to some of the schools I applied and was accepted to.

University of Montana would cost approximately $40,000 total, and Boise State would cost $37,000--this is out of state tuition.

UT San Antonio and UT El Paso were both in the $25,000 to $30,000 range. Then again, I am a resident of Texas.

Yeah, that's pretty normal.

Yep. If you're going to go out of state, sometimes it's better just to go to a private school since tuition is the same for everyone.

I found out that there was an issue with one of my classes at the U of Montana. I am majoring in geology, and one of the required classes is a class called "earth materials" It was supposed to be offered in the spring semester 2007, but it turned out that it wasn't. And it was a prerequisite for any of the other geology classes. So this means that if I went to the U of MT, I would be going part-time an extra semester. I am only factoring the semesters in which I would be going to school full-time in terms of student loans, and UM would cost $34,000. Boise State would cost $28,000 for the full-time semesters there.

Montana State is the one in Bozeman, right? I would have been going to U of Montana, which is in Missoula. I guess the cost varies by school.

Also, I am transferring, and would be a junior when I entered the college of choice. Plus I am out of state (I am currently liiving in Texas).

But I am leaning more toward Boise State now. But both Idaho and Montana are bargains as far as out-of-state schools go. The schools in the midwest and northeast are much more expensive.
