Nothing at universities in relation to ontology/metaphysics?

It's so depressing. There's like a zillion other seemingly trivial subjects, with sub-subjects in turn, but nothing in relation to what I'm specifically interested in. Just typical in my life. There is philosophy, but mostly concerning ethics, which I have little interest in.

(I was searching here, just FYI.)

That sucks. Do you know if there are any other universities that have metaphysics? I go to one of about two universities in my country that does philosophy at all.

I also thought philosophy of religion courses, if they have them, might be somewhat metaphysical.

Find a university near you that has a really big philosophy department. you can always take the course without transferring--and just transfer the credit back to your current university.

Our of curiosity how are your university's philosophy classes set up? At mine the upper level classes are different movements within philosophy such as German idealism, British empiricism, existentialism, medieval, etc. Etc, and they also have specific courses for the major players like Aristotle or Kant.

You should be able to get a pretty good grasp of metaphysics from other philosophy classes because of how much things overlap and then maybe you should attempt to learn more on your own.

cosmology (n): (1) a branch of metaphysics that deals with the nature of the universe; (2) a theory or doctrine describing the natural order of the universe; (3) a branch of astronomy that deals with the origin, structure, and space-time relationships of the universe; (4) a theory dealing with these matters.

epistemology (n): the study or a theory of the nature and grounds of knowledge especially with reference to its limits and validity.

metaphysics (n): (1) a division of philosophy that is concerned with the fundamental nature of reality and being and that includes ontology, cosmology, and often epistemology (2) abstract philosophical studies; (3) a study of what is outside objective experience

ontology (n): (1) a branch of metaphysics concerned with the nature and relations of being; (2) a particular theory about the nature of being or the kinds of things that have existence.

These are not usually offered as separate courses, but as topics of discussion in philosophy courses. This is done so that the student has a more balanced understanding of philosophy in general.

You might also find that epistemology is taught as part of a course on religion or mythology, while cosmology might be part of a science-based astronomy course.

You might also try looking for philosophical discussion groups at the student center, the library, the coffee houses and the local bars.

Otherwise, try to board the train from Platform 9¾ at King's Cross station in London. The train leaves at 11:00 am.
