A way to still get my education?
Is there a way for me to still get an education?
And could I also get child protective services involved?
Here's my situation:
I was kicked out of this virtual school program at the start of 8th grade year August of 2012 (If you wanted to know why i was kicked out read my topic in "The Haven" forum).
Since I'm going to be 16 in 2013 on January they said i cant be 16 in the 8th grade and no other schools could help me out that's in the area, There's one school that the people from the virtual school said i could go to but its a really dangerous school (Shootings, bullying and such) and my dad says he didn't want me going there so hes forcing me into a G.E.D program (Btw does he have the right to do this?) But i didn't want to get a G.E.D. I wanted to finish the 8th grade and finish high school and get my high school diploma so i could get into a really good collage and such. (I have goals )
I haven't been to school since the start of the school year and right now I'm really worried about my future I'm severely lacking a good education.
So does anyone know what i should do?
If you are having trouble getting into a school, a GED program is not bad IF, you can ALSO get good scores on the SAT or ACT. It would also be a good idea to take some classes at the community college as duel credit (for high school credit) while you are still young, or even to start college at the community college and then transfer to a bigger college as that is cost efficient and it is easier to get into a better college as a transfer student who has good grades at the college level. The community college will not care about the GED.

You father can't force you to get a GED. He can threaten to punish you, but you are not legally bound to get your GED just because he wants you to. You do not need a high school diploma to get into a good college. Not completing high school will usually just mean you will have to attend a community college first and then transfer to a good college. If you decide to go that rout, I would recommend not getting a GED until you are within a year of transferring, and expect to complete that year successfully. The reason for this is, many states offer educational grants that are only available to those who have been out of high school less than a certain number of years, and they start counting from the time you either graduate or receive a GED.
I do not know that it's important for you to complete 8th grade to start high school courses. Middle school usually doesn't count towards anything except a level of proficiency in certain subjects, and you might very well already be proficient in those subjects. Since you are 16, if you want to graduate on time with a diploma, I recommend you speak to a high school counselor. You might be able to enroll in main stream high school and attend summer courses to catch up credit wise, or you might be able to enroll in a diploma program. However it might better suit you to see about enrolling in community college courses.

Um what should i do now?
