Transfer Student?
Just wrapped up my first year of a 2 year Associates Program. I've been unemployed and living on the cheap with my parents and getting by on student aid.
My parents are now thinking of moving so my living situation could get interesting. Some options on the table include:
1. move with them and Transfer to the new College
2. Stay with my current college while taking classes at the new college that transfer back to the original college.
3. stay with my current college as an online student
4. my parents help me pay for an apartment to stay in the area and finish my remaining year.
This post mostly concerns options 1 and 2. I'm setting up a meeting with my current Dean and trying to gather as much relevant info beforehand. I'm thinking I mostly need to printout my unofficial transcript, my current Associates Program, and the other College's equivalent program. From there maybe figure out how well credits transfer between the colleges.
Just thought I'd put this out there in case other people have previous experiences with tranfering and can offer me any feedback.
you're best bet might be to figure out how to finish out this semester, since if you're schools on a schedule like mine only leaves you about 6-7 weeks left..
and set up for all Online classes for fall.. and during fall semester go ahead and apply for whatever school is closest to where your parents are moving.
I mean even if you had to get a by-the-week hotel near your current school.. those are generally fairly affordable.. and might be something your parents would be willing to help you accomplish... and would provide you with all your utilities and usually now a days internet.. and would be a lot cheaper than getting you an apartment.. and also no lease. Then when you were done with this semester you could move back in with them.
