Hey everyone. It's been a while since I posted on these forums, but I feel like I want to make better use of this place again :)

Anyway, I'm in my second year of uni (undergraduate) and I have so much work to do before the end of term, it's starting to stress me out. I have just under 2 weeks left of Easter holidays before I go back for the third term and before then, I have an essay to write, a test to revise for and 2 presentations to work on. Thankfully my lecturers let me do presentations on my own to them only in their office which while still nerve-racking, is a hell of a lot better than even thinking of attempting to do a presentation to a class.

Anyway, this essay I need to do is part of an elective module and I'm finding it difficult to motivate myself to do it.. I had the intention of completing it right at the beginning of the Easter holidays... but things didn't quite turn out like that... I ended up getting distracted by the xbox (Just Cause 2.. awesome game by the way) and also everyday I say to myself 'Right, today is the day I will do this essay' and then bedtime comes around remarkably quick....

So... anyone in a similar predicament? Any advice on how to motive yourself to do your work??

Hello. I can quite understand what you're going through. I am an university student myself and I know how work accumulates so fast and time is so little.
I never was a very hardworking student, even though I have always done my assignments and studied for tests and exams. I literally spent too much time with my obsessions with my imaginary countries, their economies, diplomatic relationships, and so on. Transition to university was not smooth. Everyday I have stuff to study or assignments to work on. Most of them group assignments with people I don't know. 1st year was really stressful. But with time I have learnt and established a daily routine that I try to follow strictly. Of course, during exams' season or presentation I still stress out a bit, but I am a lot better. That's my advice to you... just find a routine. It will make your life a lot easier. Still, everyone's different and what works for me may not work to you as well.
Good luck!

Pick a subject you're actually passionate about and it doesn't feel like "work".
Throw out the video games and TV. Stay off Facebook, Tumblr, all that garbage.
