Are language majors really useless like they're made out to be? I'm looking for something that will get me a job, not just a degree to further my education, so would a double degree with Arts and a language major and something else be a better choice? I was thinking Arts/Business, but am not really interested in business.

ive been out of college for quite awhile, ive got 130 hrs credit but still a year and a half from graduating.
English/Biology majors, completed a Theology minor.
my plan was to teach on the college level but the politics of the academic world turned me off of it.

im in my early 40's and the vast majority of my friends/family with degrees are not working in their fields
and this seems to be a trend more and more prevalent.
when one factors in things like student loans, bills, etc combined with the fact a job in your desired field
is less and less likely, a degree these days isnt worth what it once was. notable exceptions exist of course.
