Not like me apparently! I'm fairly miffed. I have assignments to turn in, so I'm accessing the post-grad department at Uni and more than once I've been asked if I'm a post-graduate student. Well, yeah, I got into the building with the little swipe-y thing that only post-grads have, didn't I? I have my post-grad student card, haven't I? Get off my case people! And yeah, go on, ask me about social constructionism, or Derrida's 'erasure' of Being, or Weber's critique of objectivity - I dare ya! ROOOOOAAAAARRRRR!

A bit defensive there, don't you think?

In my experience postgrads look like humans, as do undergrads. Which ever side of the divide do not get into a "them and us" nonsense thing.

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

You probably looked confused or disoriented, like you weren't familiar with the place the way a post-grad would be. It probably had little to do with your appearance or how you were dressed.

You might not look your age.

When I was in med school, there was a high school group touring the campus or what not. I was taking a break and reading for pleasure by one of the windows. A security guard asked me to return to my group and told me how he was going to ask my teacher to call my parent and tell them about me wondering off.

I proceeded to stare at him blankly before I told him I attended there and got my student ID out of my pocket. I was confused for days. It still upsets me when I am thought to be in high school or what not when I am a grad student. I not only graduated high school, I graduated college.

Yeah, y'all are right. I was feeling defensive and totally stressed up.

Nebrets, yep, that's me. I'm 37, and I have some fine lines and one or two grey hairs even, but I still somehow have the air, or presence, or whatever, of a kid. I get very tired of people talking to the person I'm with rather than to me, for example. Thanks for sharing, Nebrets :)
