what do i study?
a nice lighthearted thread where we can act all autistic about what we study.
you can talk about subjects, post their descriptions and go on autistic rants about the subject matter.
i enrolled today for my 2014 academic year and this is the description of a topic i chose.

I'm majoring in psychology in anticipation of becoming an autism specialist able to give assessments. I love psychology in all its forms, especially abnormal psych. I find studying disorders fascinating, I suppose because I find abnormal people so much more interesting than average run-of-the-mill "sane" people. Of particular interest to me apart from autism are ADHD, OCD, narcissistic personality disorder, histrionic personality disorder, learning disabilities (especially dyslexia/dyscalculia) and sensory processing disorder. Maybe I'll broaden the scope of my higher studies and specialise in diagnosing all of those disorders. I also hope in my spare time to help educate the general public as well as both primary and higher education facilities about the truths of these disorders, particularly autism, to give faculty and disability support staff a clearer understanding of the ways in which they can help people with the disorder/s and put together more effective supports for them.

I study physics at university. In the UK there are no majors or minors, you pick one subject only, which you do throughout university, and I much prefer this.
I picked it because it was always really my special interest, I think it's amazing, and I could go on and on and on about it for hours on end to people if asked to haha. I intend to become either an engineer, so I can use my creative side, and for the problem solving, or a lawyer, which is surprisingly easy to achieve even without a law degree in this country, because I'm great at arguing and debating, and I'd love the problem solving aspect of that, too. Also, I like being right, haha.
