Hello everyone. I have a question regarding my horribly low school grades. No matter how much I study I always tend to get one of the lowest possible grades ever in any subject, mostly when it comes to launguage and anything requiring social interaction. Also I got a very low grade on a mathematics final exam but still passed.

I wanna improve myself on a drastical speed because otherwise I will not have the time, slow progressing equals to failure because the schools only care about the performance skills, not the way you learn & how you learn.

So is there any viable option for me to consider in order to get good grades? I don't care about grades, only knowledge but WHO CARES? Not the teachers.

Sincerely, Quantum.

Note: I'm a freshman in a HS for natural science, I'm trying to persude a astrophysical career in my future which probably won't be likely. I'm 16 years old if that explains anything.

Do you go to tutoring?

Perhaps you are not studying correctly. Do you do well on your homework? I found it best to do homework the same day it was assigned. Then, if it wasn't due the next day, I would have more time to work on those problems that I couldn't get right away. As for test preparation, I always found it helpful to do ALL of the problems and questions at the end of the chapter. I would also suggest that you talk to your teacher(s) about your issues and ask them for help and suggestions.

When are you studying? How? How often?

Bottom line, you need to prove you learned. How you learned it is inconsequential.

Yes, StatsNerd is right. The time of day when you study and do homework makes a very big difference. Some people work best in the morning and others afternoons, or at night. Do a bit of experimenting and find out what time of the day works best for you. Me? I did best from midnight 'til 3AM, or so.

I usually study when it's close to the examination (approximately 3 days - 1 week before it) and I tend to study for 2 hours each day if it's about a subject out of my interests. When I have a math exam I usually study for 3 hours a day but now I stopped because It's not really motivating, why study if you still get a low grade?

When it comes to homeworks I rarely do them because of my bad organization skills, I tend to just put them inside of my backpack and let them be there with all the other papers which makes it a bit difficult. When I study? usually from 6'o'clock to 12 in the night if it's something very important, yet failing. I do take a lot of brakes I have to admitt but my brakes is just me sitting at the same spot looking at the computer screen. Every student gets a tutor in my school because it's a essential part of having a mutual understanding of what's going on, they don't really give advice on how to improve your grades, they only say "study more".

I don't want all of my free time to be spent on my grades, why should I give away my life for nothing while nobody else does it?

**Note**: I'm living in Sweden and the education system is not working very well, it's nearly impossible to get an A (top grade) on the subjects like Swedish and English, anything besides mathematics is impossible or very hard by my observations.

I don't wanna fail life at all, all I wanna become is a proffesional astrophycisist but it feels like the education system is preventing me from becomming one.

As annoying as it is, homework is designed to reenforce the concepts your learning in class.

One of the most common problems people face with studying is not that they aren't studying, it's they aren't studying right.
