My least favourite class at school is drama. I picked it all because it was the only alternative to maths (which I'm terrible at), I thought it'd be easy/enjoyable and was very outspoken back then. It's too late for me to drop or change classes now as I'm about to start my final year, and I still loathe drama.

I've gone back to my usual timid self and find it hard to perform not only because of the huge audience, but also because I don't have the social skills to be someone else. The comments from my teacher are always the same - "your performance was too static, you need to move around more" when moving around stage while saying the lines never naturally occurs to me. The subject has nothing to do with my dreams for the future either, and most of my classmates are popular and really outspoken.

I really want to know how to survive this class. I'm stuck until the end of the year and am really worried about my marks.

My best tip is to focus on make believe like you might have done as a child. An acting coach told me once that children are easy actors to work with because PRETENDING comes so natural to them.

See this as an opportunity to learn how to "fake it," as acting is about projecting a character you're playing and not being yourself.

Good luck.
