Ok so I consider myself to be a fairly intelligent 16yr old girl. However, my grades don't reflect even the slightest form of intelligence. I recently recieved my progress report and gosh, three F's. Just wondering if any of you have that problem!
In high school I was a straight D student except for math, which was A or A+. I knew the material but hated going to school and just wanted to avoid it as much as possible. I knew the structure of the final grade (what percentage for exams, projects, participation, etc.) and would basically stop all work once I knew I'd reached 50%. In grade 12 I got an "I" (incomplete) in Physics because although my mark was 54% I didn't hand in a project that was later deemed to be essential to obtaining a passing grade. Luckily I had all the credits I needed to graduate.
Threats about not getting into university were wasted on me. I had been in the "academic" stream only because I was too intelligent for the "general / trades" stream. Not only did my family not have the money for further education, but I was so distressed from going to school that I would have refused to go on for another 4 years anyway.
