Gosh my grades are horrid

Ok so I consider myself to be a fairly intelligent 16yr old girl. However, my grades don't reflect even the slightest form of intelligence. I recently recieved my progress report and gosh, three F's.

Just wondering if any of you have that problem!

I used to get bad grades (c's were the lowest grade I got for the year but I got lower than that on individual assignments) when I didn't do my homework, but then I did my homework and got good grades. Do you do your homework?

I know that its hard to concentrate on homework, but its really important to do it so you can get into a good college.

Yes, Alex is on to something. My 14 year old has sevre ADHD and his greades are not good. He does well on the tests, and he does his homework, but he never hands the homework in.

If you can pin point the breakdown, you can work on a solution.

I do on occasion do my homework but it is just SO BORING!! !! !! !! When my mind isn't challenged enough, I feel no point in doing the work. I suppose that's my problem.

Yeah its all boring usually but you have to do it so you can get into a college where the work *won't* be very boring so you can do a job where the work isn't boring at all. What are you interested in? Maybe that will become a career path for you.

I find adding a flash of creativity to my homework makes it less boring. For instance, hate philosophy papers. With this, I merely add in my own opinions as well.

Somehow trying to make your homework fun in some way may be advantageous to you and your grades as well as alex has mentioned, your future.

I could have written this. In high school, I used to get F's until I was homeschooled, then I got A's and B's because it was not as boring as school (I only worked three or four hours a day, and used the rest of my time to study astronomy and do sport) and because I could take my time.
Now, in college, I have bad grades again (C's and D's). I realized that I have a lot of difficulties focusing (ADHD) and with my handwriting, but also that I had problems expressing my thoughts and not being distracted by sounds and lights.
This must have an impact on my grades.

I feel the same way. Thankfully for our junior year resarch paper, we were allowed to chose any topic we wanted. It makes 12 pages seem not so long. I want to go into physical therapy or special education. i have dreamed of working with kids who have Autism and AS. I want to teach them and watch their talents grow.

Alie, I have some good info that may be helpful to you about Aspergers/High-Functioning Autism/NonVerbal Learning Disorder that may help you. I collect the info from online and copy them onto Word. Let me know if you are interested.

In high school I was a straight D student except for math, which was A or A+. I knew the material but hated going to school and just wanted to avoid it as much as possible. I knew the structure of the final grade (what percentage for exams, projects, participation, etc.) and would basically stop all work once I knew I'd reached 50%. In grade 12 I got an "I" (incomplete) in Physics because although my mark was 54% I didn't hand in a project that was later deemed to be essential to obtaining a passing grade. Luckily I had all the credits I needed to graduate.

Threats about not getting into university were wasted on me. I had been in the "academic" stream only because I was too intelligent for the "general / trades" stream. Not only did my family not have the money for further education, but I was so distressed from going to school that I would have refused to go on for another 4 years anyway.

Makes sense. My problem is that I am getting bad grades in classes I usually excell in. Writing and Spanish. I also rather refuse to go see the school psychologist because he just gets under my skin.

In high school there were times where I would rather have drunk poison hemlock than do boring, bland, and non visual homework.

I managed to get by with C's and D's mostly. I scored 23 on the ACT which was the bare minumum necessary to garuntee entrance into college for me. When I got into college and I had something to focus on, doing homework got a little easier for me. I found myself doing things such as sacrificing a whole weekend sitting in front of the computer typing out essays to turn in on tuesday, which is something I would have never done in high school.

For me, doing homework is still hell though. Blame it on executive dysfunction.

My grades are pretty poor.. mostly due to my lack of concerntration skills.

I didn't have that much trouble after i was diagnosed, mainly because of 2 factors. 1 was i had a support assistant in lessons to keep me on track and 2 i had the example of my dad to show what happens when you dont work (Ex army, now taxi driver) and i dont want to end up like that. Plus i have a goal to work for directly. I want to be a programmer who also plays rock music and is famous for supporting projects to help people with AS
