Utah has the second-highest prevalence of autism in the nation, and Utah County has the highest rate in the state, according to Teresa Cardon, director of autism studies at Utah Valley University.
The university is taking steps to help those with the disorder. It has a new minor in autism studies, which has been officially recognized by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
"UVU is the only institution in Utah to offer this unique bachelor's level training that provides education in applied behavior analysis for students who are interested in working with individuals on the autism spectrum," Cardon said....
