geometry and classes
Hey gang, ok since it's been a while since i've posted anything related to the goings on with classes I'd figure I'd post an update: Last week being that half the class didn't bother to show up and the teacher let us work on math problems we wanted to do I took a crack at some more in depth questions related to geometry I got most of the questions correct and my new math teacher whom knows I have Autism and a few other LD's took time by sitting down with me and explaining a few questions that I had and drawing out different things being that I am more visual needless to say I was able to "get" geometry I did three pages by my self and out of 50 questions I got maybe 2-3 wrong due to the fact I was being interrupted by the class goofing off so that's the positive here's the negative I am working with a person to see if I can get a tutor or some other kinda hands on help so we could speed this thing up and the college told him that they don't provide services to their adult ed students but rather to those whom are taking college courses and that ADA does not apply to the classes that I am taking so what this person is planning on doing is making a few calls to tutors that Adult ED provided and seeing if there's a "connection" between me and the tutor as for cost we're going to see if we could get some kinda recourse through the community or through any autism community services failing that I'm seeing what the possibilities are that I could meet up with a state representative and seeing if this would qualify for discrimination being that I am disabled and I have learning disabilities other then that I'm pressing on.... I've been told that I am actually making progress in math and a little progress in writing so that was a complete surprise to hear.
So that's my update I'm contemplating on getting a PT summer job on my own maybe at a barns and noble just so that I can pull in some kinda revenue so as I start that adventure I'll post that on the jobs page

Congrats on making progress in geometry. That sounds like a good experience, and the teacher was in there trying to find a couple of different ways to explain things, which is what better teachers do.
And I'm sorry the overall institution is a stick-in-the-mud and is looking for excuses not to help, instead of looking for ways to help. I'm glad you have the person who's acting in the role of an advocate. As I'm sure you know, getting an institution to change a decision, well, sometimes they can change a decision readily and easily, but sometimes they really dig in their heels. And contending with them can be difficult, lonely work. It can be extremely helpful to have an advocate.
And good luck with the part-time job search!
