Here is one of my own: https://robertlovespi.wordpress.com/201 ... -and-tell/

I should clarify: this is funny, to me, NOW. At the time, I didn't find it funny at all!

I'm looking forward to seeing if others here have similar experiences in school -- unfunny at the time, but a funny memory today.

In high school, I rode a very crowded school bus, and if you didn't run from the school to the bus, you might not get a seat. Well, I never ran because it shouldn't have been necessary. One day, every seat was taken and the aisle was filled with people's legs from being crammed 3 to a seat. For whatever reason, I decided I would throw my backpack into this sea of bare female legs and then try to sit down on them. Strange idea for a guy who'd never even kissed a girl. When I tossed my backpack, a few people said, "Whoa, don't hurt anybody now." Then I remember starting to sit on the legs in the aisle and only going down about half way and ending up looking like I was doing a squat! I saw one girl cover her face with her hands in what I assume was an expression of mockery. When I realized this plan was not going to work, I ended up just cramming myself on the edge of a seat that already had 2 people on it and then hoping no one would say anything! I like your story too. I was not into science as much as a youngster as I am now but definitely can relate in general. :D

"Talent show" to me means any kind of talent - music or comedy. To one talent show it only meant music in law school, but they never specified what kidn. Of coruse, i was up telling jokes and being funny as best I can, jsut like in the benefit talent shows we had in college.

The best part is, a couple people came to take me off the stage, and I was good enough for 30 seconds several customers actually pushed the guys off the stage who wanted to remove me. :D it was great, i was like the "Unknown Comic" from the Gong Show, even when I finally did pull a lame one and the crowd stopped doing it, I felt later (though not at the time) like I'd had victory over the NT's who weren't specific enough! A(nd if I'd been good enough, the audience would have kept demanding I stay out there, I like to imagine.)

(I can't see very well, that's probably one reason I don't mind being on stage)

Another time I had the while class in stitches, this professor, a big NRA supporter, may have been joking himself about not only having guns, but people having tanks in their driveway. In fact, i'm pretty sure he was. But, I took it seriously and remarked, "You know, that makes sense. My main concern with guns is little kids getting hold of them and accidentally shooting themselves. And, you...just don't have that problem with a tank." I was so dead serious, the professor and the class couldn't stop laughing for 5 minutes.
