I'm going to a 3 week summer program at a college in a month. I have sent all my documentation to get accommodations, but I'm still a little worried. I'm assuming the ADA would prevent them from not giving me the single room since I have adequate documentation, but what do I do if they try to tell me no? The housing building does have single person rooms, they just weren't an official housing option for the program...this would be the first time I'm leaving home 100% on my own, so it's going to be stressful enough. The mere idea of not having my own private space that is sensory issue friendly will probably result in pure anarchy and chaos, LOL! :compress: I know this is probably just a "yay aspie-ness" moment with how illogical I'm being about this, but I guess I can't help but worry.

Maybe you should contact the housing person and explain why you need a single room and emphasize the importance to your well-being while there. Otherwise, they might not go out of their way to give you a single room, if it is not one of the official housing options. Speaking to them directly could help.

Yeah...so it turns out I was totally being stupid about this. Not only did the disability office tell me I am definitely getting a single room, they also told me nobody in the program could give me issues about it. They also told me that they are not allowed to charge an unreasonable amount more than everyone else is paying for the housing as well. So to anyone who finds this on google, don't be silly like me and worry about any housing accommodations for summer programs offered by a college! :compress:
