The most important thing is right from the beginning to find yourself a niche you can be comfortable in for a while. You don't have to stay in it for the next two years, but it should be able to serve as a starting point from which you can branch out if you decide to.
In my opinion, there's no better niche to start with than the campus library. Pick a regular table near the front desk if you can, and do your work there every day for a couple months. You'll start to feel the rhythm of the campus from that spot very quickly, you'll soon recognize all the staff, and then a lot of the regulars who come to the same spots also. If you're looking for a part-time job, see if you can get a job in the library -- it's one of the best ways to plug into the campus community. And by being a regular in the library, you'll hear about all sorts of other things happening on campus -- be sure to read all the bulletin boards. And it's an aspie-friendly environment for sure.
