Does anyone here find lessons taken by supply/substitute teachers to be really boring. I mean, they give you one or two sheets to do, you complete them and then what happens? Nothing to do for the rest of the lesson. A sense of boredom overcomes you. Supply lessons aren't proper lessons. Add to all the noise everyone else makes, because they aren't sticking to the seating plan so they can chat with friends, and there's nothing left to do.

i HATE supply teachers (if it`s substitutes you mean) they can`t handle anything, everybody in my class makes noise and are trying too irritate them, then ALL of us get`s punsished for what some of the idiot`s do.
We also usually get the cranky, pshycho, old fashion`d teacher`s too that couldn`t care less if we shot ourself right in front of them.

I hate school in generall so i actully can`t care less really..

Sorry about the confusion. My Mum is a teacher and so she and I refer to substitute teachers as supply teachers. So I meant to say substitute teachers. Sorry about that Vegasadelphia.

By the way, good sig, got my science teachers laughing.

A substitute teacher's job is simply to make sure that the class is supervised and that the students stay on-task and don't kill each other or something. Generally the "sheets" they give you are what the usual teacher has given them to give to you, as the substitute probably has no idea how your class is run; even if they know the subject matter they won't know where your class is in the lesson, etc.

So yes, classes given by subs are boring, but it isn't really the substitute teacher's fault.

Usually my class tortures the subs. Once back in eighth grade, we were in publications class (which has different grades for different periods). Anyway, she asked us which grade we were in and a boy named Jake blurted out sixth grade and we all agreed. It's a good thing, too, because sixth grade had a free-day and we would've had a pop-quiz! 8O

Here's another one. Back in sixth grade, we had an older sub with very red hair. Anyway, we noticed that whenever she bent down, there was a huge gray spot on top of her head!! So everytime she did so, we'd just start laughing our heads off and none of us bothered to tell her! lol

Here's the best one yet! Last semester, during the last period of the day (it was a block-day, meaning the class was about two hours long), we had a sub that never showed up. Apparently what happened is that the sub had gone home early because she was sick and had forgotten to get a replacement. So anyway, when we all sat there for a while with no sub, we all decided "Screw school, we're going home!" lol And we did, too! :D

I never had a problem with subs. Things stayed the same except the kids be roudy and talk and not listen to the teacher. There was still the school work and still going to the classes we went to and thigns stayed on schedule.

In high school it was boring and fun. Sometimes we got to watch a movie and I play my games or read when I had nothing to do or I'd sleep. That's what I hated about them. No school work and not being allowed to play my Game Boy or listen to music.

When I was in public school, we had what I call "substitutes in residency", in which the substitute only seems to teach at a particular school.

I hated subsitute teachers. I was always in the classes with the misbehaving kids and we would always misbehave when we would get one. Then we would get yelled at and I would cry.

Lessons with Supply teachers can be odd.

Some just give you the sheets to do, tell everyone to behave and get on with it and then goes and sits in teh corner for the rest fo the lesson.

Some however are quite interesting and can tell you lots of interesting things.

Others have trouble keeping everyone quiet which is annoying sometimes.

Annoying. Subs can't control the class.

I hated when classes had a substitute. Too much noise a lot of banging around and foolishness. I don't know why I even got frustrated in those situations. All I should've done was be to myself and did whatever it was. But there are classes where the regular teachers don't even have control. I've had a couple. Mostly middle/jr. high schools where they are the worst.

Some of the subs were pretty common and where known by the students. Whether they liked them or not. Some were respected enough by students that teachers even called them up to fill in.

I remember having to be in school when the teachers were on strike in which usually bring in subs. I don't know if we left early or did something else. But what is the point of going to class in those situations? Teachers wouldn't even count those days anyways, they may not even care if you didn't attend class. Might as well stay home cause that is what most students end up doing in those situations despite the administrators marking you down each time and even kicking students out.

Yes i find them annoying because they cannot control the class and half of the time they do not know what the class is supposed to actually be doing.
