To climb a few rungs.
I'm no longer sure why I braved university, glad I did though.
It was awful but worth it, not sure if that helps, old sport?

after the 2008 recession, a lot of people with Bachelors degrees and higher work at jobs that do not require degrees.
and they have to pay back a lot of student loans.
someone told me he worked as a software engineer seventeen years. Oracle. then his whole division got laid off. he had to work at Trader Joes stocking shelves for one year. then after that he worked as a precalculus tutor. (barely above minimum wage). it has almost been one year.
society acts like everyone has to go to college.
college has pros and cons.
there are alternatives.
having said that, based on your special interests thus far:
biology
psychology
music
but you are only 13. by the time you are 18, your skills and interests will have changed.
plenty of students change majors in college too.
besides you could get a bachelors in one subject and a masters in a different subject.
you could double major.
a lot of things can change in five years.
put more energy into being 13.
quite frankly, i am 34. and i regret not enjoying my teen years.
my precious lil "parents" made me take the SAT in 7th grade. they made me memorize 10 to 20 SAT words per day, over the summer. between third and seventh grades. and between 10 and 20 SAT words per week. over the school year. between third and seventh grades.
in 7th grade, got 1040 on SAT. the average for 12th graders was 1012. got barely above average. seriously.
but i was clinically depressed. bullied in junior high school. puberty. Gender Identity Disorder. and et cetera. besides the school that i went to, had low standardized test scores.
but whatever.
and when i started college, majored in Physics. quickly realized that was too hard. Structural Engineering. fourth year flunked out.
so. what did i end up with?
BA Cognitive Science
cognitive science is not that different from psychology.
just ucsd? just a bachelors? just cognitive science? six years to graduate? 2.19 GPA? at that time, zero internships or related work experience? zero social network?
and that was what i worked my ugly fat stupid butt off, when i was in seventh grade for?
seriously though
yeah i think that, it could be a good thing for you to think about what you want to major in and what kind of job you want.
however, it is also good for you to live in the moment. make the most out of being thirteen years old.
you never get a chance to be thirteen again.
and i would trade that, for my (not so high anyways) SAT scores.
