Im 18 and I am in some special ed classes. Some girl in my class found out and she said "Why? You dont need it, you are getting an A". Yeah. English is my best class so of course I am getting an A. Im not so great at math, science or PE or behaving in class. She didnt know that though. I wish I didnt need it. But without it, I would get very disorganized and do badly in school and I have challenging behaviors.

I don't think that's a good thing to say. It stereotypes those in special education as being academically incapable. If you know that the special classes help you, try to tune her words out.

Yeah. I think its really offensive too. I use that help everyday. Also there is nothing wrong with being "Special needs". People judge alot. It hurts feelings

Being smart isn't the issue of course. Lots of people here have told me how smart I am and what an amazing future I'll have being so smart at my age. The problem is the impairments that hold me back. I have college level abilities in some areas and 3rd grade level abilities in others. I'm like that physically too. If someone saw me sitting still without a shirt off, they would probably think I'm very athletic. But once I got up and started moving around, they wouldn't think that any more.

It's hard to say if that girl was just paying you a complement or being judgemental.

I sense that the girl was paying him a compliment.

It can be seen as being a snooty remark by the girl. But I don't sense that she made the remark in a snooty spirit.
