Just recently I realized that the obsession over my stomach is holding me back from what I really would want to be when I grow up: A GastroIntestinalogist or however you spell it.

I have a chronic condition and I've been having constipation problems since I was 4(I was born premature also) and it looks like its going to end in surgery.

Still, disregarding all of that, I ask myself if I didn't have to worry about this could I become the doctor that I want to be?

I say yes.

Does anyone else feel like this about some sort of distraction that is always their and will never go away?

At various points in my life. Happily, not right now.

They can be exhausting.

I feel distracted by this contant feeling of disconnectedness or detachment from what is going on around me. It's a very frustrating feeling as though I just can't seem to find any way to get my brain to 'plug in', and I've had this feeling for as long as I can remember. It's always there, but is worse whenever I'm especially sleep deprived. Anyone have any suggestions?
