I can't think mathematically or problem solve. Word problems are killer for me. The only part of math I'm good at is memorizing formulas to get the answers from simple worded questions.

I can't use figurative speed or creat metaphors, sarcasm, etc. So poetry was a disaster for me. I'm in grade 11 and I still don't feel good about my essays because they feel all the same. Why do I only write literally and why can't I think outside the box which is important for math and english?

Because you have AS?

Aspies think literally and it's hard for them to think outside the box. That's why I struggled in high school and algebra was cut from me and I did easy math that was concrete.

I want to become an engineer but it heavily is involved with math, math, and more math. Everything else such as chemistry, physics, electronics, I really enjoy and excell at.

That's good, maybe you can pick a career you want there you excel at?

How are you good with chemistry? I heard it's math too and it's very abstract?

Isn't physics abstract too? I think it's also math.

If that's what you're really determined to to, I say go for it. It may require a couple of remedial classes or some tutoring if you're not so hot at math, but, looking back when you're fifty, do you really want some high-school deficiencies stand in your way?

I absolutely loathed math in school. I could barely get a passing mark.

Now I'm taking business math in college (accounting, economics, etc) and it isn't all that bad. Once you do courses that are relevant to the field you're studying in, it's not so bad.
