Hello,

sometimes it is really difficult for me to realize my aims. I'm a severe procrastinator.
My strategy: setting up a timetable, then executing it strictly. Once in a while that works and really satisfies me, but mostly it doesn't. Instead of that I keep surfing the internet like an information obsessed person. I fear my self-discipline isn't strong enough.

Sometimes I wish I could simply kill my lazy flesh and become a hard-working robot. I try to code virtual algorithms that are supposed to control my action. My codes are still beta software, but I don't think this new strategy can eliminate my struggle for self-discipline.

How do you improve you self-discipline? Or don't you suffer from this kind of problems?

Kind regards,
oak

If you surf the internet alot and get distracted by that, maybe just un-plug the internet cable if you work on a program that doesn't need to be hooked up to the web to function.

Better to take away the distraction rather than struggling to hold your self away from it.

exercise, do other stuff not tech related. if you write software, start doing it in paper (you know, the main schema, etc)

I'm a believer of muscle-memory. The body remembers just like the mind. Unlike the mind though, the body can be trained to remember routines rather quickly and that will 'pass' to the mind.

Try taking a martial arts class. Not only is it a good workout & helps your social skills (as they are organized and disciplined classes), not only do you learn to defend yourself but you also get your body into a rhythm pattern... class at X time, punch/kick/grapple practice routines (timing on how to do them), etc.. that all starts to wear out your procrastination and some self-doubts.
