Is there anyone here who attends the University of Chicago or knows someone who goes there? What can you say about the school and the atmosphere there?

I refused to fill out their application. I have, however, heard very good things about the university.

Oh, OK. I don't know what the app for their grad programs looks like. The undergrad app is just plain disgusting. A lot of really stupid essay questions; the prompts are chosen by current freshman and it's intended to be kind of silly.

trust me, essay questions are not the worse thing they can put on an application. Some of the grad school applications I was filling out asked me to list ALL the classes I've ever taken, including the textbook used! You can imagine what a joy it was to spend hours trying to track down the textbooks for classes I took back when I was a freshman. With the money they charge for application, you would think that the admission personnel could infer that info from the transcript, which of course, also costs money.

OK, that doesn't sound like much fun. Still, at least it's only data-entry; you can just look that stuff up. Essays are a pain to write, especially if you have no idea how to respond to the prompt given.

There was one on the UT-Chattanooga Honors Program which I failed to get acceptance on. I was to write it on a picture of a destitiute walking around Cuban architecture. I babbled on about the man being a rogue black-ops merc kicked out of the CIA. Did they want an inner-humanitarian? I really cannot find mine.
