Okay, this is not an easy post for me but several things happened at my college:

* verbal bullying against me (this kinda subsided after a lot of teacher intervention but not completely)
* various kinds of vandalism (writing expletives on the teacher's table, destroying a 'window' in the entrance door)
* various occasions of theft (computers and projectors disappeared from classrooms without a trace)
* rigging teacher's computers with keyloggers to get the exams early or edit the marks

This leaves me... speechless and with a huge amount of distrust towards college and my fellow students. It makes it hard for me to mentally touch the subjects as well. I don't want my education to go down the drain because of ret*ds and atavisms... But I didn't even tell my parents yet about this, still it really bugs me. I do not want to change college again

Isn't there an Honour Code and Honour Code Board for such offfenses at your college?

I don't know what you mean... There are rules of behavior, the students are expected to adher to but this does not help if it is unclear who did it.

Yeah, Jerry and I go to GMU and there's an honor code there. On most of the exams there is a paragraph at the top explicitly stating the honor code; a signature is required for the exam to be graded.

Of course, it's much broader than this.

I know. Maybe you could explain it better to Lost here.

I haven't lost faith in all of humanity, just the people I went to school/college with. If these people are supposed to be the future of this country, then we're all screwed!! :x

I suspect there may be a disconnect here. I think the "college" that he refers to is more like high school for us - that is, he's not in a "Universität" but something along the lines of a "Gymnasium" or some such under-university study.

(sorry, I'm not that familiar with the german educational system. But one of my classmates went to school in germany and came here to attend my university)

If this is the case, well, "high school" or whatever you might call it, sucks pretty much everywhere. It's a bastion of immaturity, and frankly university is a lot better in all those ways you pointed out

It's an 'international college' according to it's own name and I will graduate as bachelor of computer science. So, no, I would not just chalk it up as immaturity of some people.

Oh, well, never mind that theory then :)

Some people (well, a lot of people) are just really shallow, I guess.

I mean, it's like you said, once you get to that level it's not immaturity...Once you hit 20, and haven't realized that it's not right to picking and bullying people and doing vandalism, you're kind of a loser.

I started to get somewhat nearer to grasp that number. Do I need to say that I am suddenly no longer in favor of democracy?

there will always be losers whereever you go, but do not let that get in the way. Most humans are not losers so just try to make it through college.
