How can I face a teacher who doesn't really like me? About last year, one of my teachers didn't really seem to like me because I don't know a lot about "real world" stuff like he does (and the rest of my class, too) like politics, music, dating, etc. and he either blames me or gives me a failing grade (most of the schoolwork is about it, too) because I don't know about that stuff, and it's not even my fault. I just been to a lot of different schools over the years and I was never thought that kinda stuff. Also, because I'm autistic, I have a hard time getting interested in that stuff.
*sighs* I wonder if I'll ever find my place in high school (or this whole world).
Are you bothered about what that teacher thinks? Are you bothered about your grades? If yes, you could look upon it as a task, that you have to inform yourself of politics, current events, music and the entertainment industry, etc. (dating is a completely different ball game). It's fairy simple - read news on the internet and/ or newspapers, watch informative TV programmes like E! TV (or whatever they're called these days), MTV News,
E Online, etc. You might find it boring, but the information you get will give you something to talk about with your peers, and probably make life easier for you.
I have a friend with mild AS who does this every day. He visits the same news website every evening after work and checks out the headlines and the gossip. That way he comes across as well-informed in social encounters, in addition to being highly intelligent. I think this makes it easier for NTs to accept his intelligence as they can find some common ground with him.
