so I'm in my last semester in college and getting set to graduate in December. all that's left for me is elective courses. normally this'd sound fun and cool but all I've come down with is a sense of crippling apathy because I'm officially not learning anything new.

my major is Comic Art (yes they offer a degree in it) and most of the classes are centered around that. there's Comic History, which is interesting but so scattershot that when you find out all you have to write is two 1500 page papers and that's it it kinda takes the wind out of your sails.

there's Typography, and i know people find type interesting and I'm just not one of them. I'm competent at the class but nothing about it has made me care.

there's Comic 4, which is only interesting because I'm doing what I want for once instead of what others think I should. so my updates amount to little more than "here's what I'm doing, hope you like it" with little input needed.

and finally there's my Comics Publishing class. it's taught by the Comic 4 teacher, who comes from punk rock and DIY so he's REALLY into zines. we're five weeks into class and zines are all we've covered. i've been making zines since i was 15!! ! and it's a dead medium since the advent of the internet! how is this supposed to help me find work in publishing after I graduate???...ugh, just don't get me started.

so I'm having a hard time getting into the classes, but I want to graduate more than anything so I don't want to do poorly. any advice?

Dude, typography is like 50% of a design, take advantage of it.
Publishing class: Even if you think paper is dead, you can learn A LOT about grids, image placement, titles and all that. And if you use InDesign, it's a huge timesaver.
I think some of the most important classes are these two ones you're having right now, type and zine.

If you find classes boring, do something else with your free time, that's the best thing I did while in design school :P
