I'm in the 12th grade and about to graduate but what's the best way to deal with them, so far I've just skip class or don't go to school at all to avoid doing them but I'll probably go to college next year and skipping isn't really an option since college matters more than HS (even potheads with a 65/D average can graduate HS). Being an aspie, presentations really kill me, I just can't do them because of fear of people laughing or humiliating me or people not being able to understand me because of my spanish accent. I came to the U.S when I was 12 (I'm 17 now) and my accent is still really noticeable so that makes another reason. I tried asking the teacher once and she allowed me to do another project, but one in my whole life isn't much and I don't think professors in college would give me that option. I would rather write 50 essays in a week than do a presentation to be honest.

Any suggestions?

Back in school I would record them with a text to speech program and press play. In university I just force myself to do it but it sounds like you're far more scared of them than I ever was so I'd talk to your disability support unit and see if they have any advice.

I have never experienced that someone was ridiculed for a foreign accent during a presentation. Fair teachers will intervene when things become too noisy. I suggest that you grin and bear it. Yes, the first times are horrible but you can learn to survive them and get better at them

Well, unless they are native american, they are not any more american then you. This is a country of immigrants, so people shouldn't be hating on you.

Make sure you practice and know the subject that you are giving a speech on like the back of your hand. I also had problems making eye contact with the people I was giving the speech to, but I had to learn how to force myself to do so. That is really all of the advice I can give you, I was never great at giving speeches but I got myself through them.
