Have any of you in college out there joined any fraternities or sororities? Personally I haven't because I'm not into that kind of thing (also I commute to school), but i was wondering if any of you had a different perspective...

I dunno about frats... You might be able to join a more academic frat, like one based on your major or an honors program. I don't see someone with asperger's joining a social, drinking, random hooking up frat though. There is usually hazing at some level, even though this is supposedly illegal. You're expected to keep certain fraternal information, codes, and rituals a secret. I've seen new frat and sorority members being hazed, its not pretty.

I was invited to join AEPi but declined in the end.

The sororities and frats at my university are mostly drunken idiots who can't park. The academic sorority doesn't meet much because everyone is to busy studying. The "Christian" sorority on campus doesn't seem very Christian to me because they speak out against Catholics in a decidedly non-Christian manner.

If only there were enough aspies on some campus to make an aspie fraternity... I wonder what it would be like...

I'm just a guy who's probably seen Animal House one too many times.

Most Likely. Plus I think that most frats boys around 18-22 would find it creepy for 28 year old to pledge for their frat. Not to be offense towards you, Tim.

Then again, Bluto was 25 or 26 and with the Deltas (in the movie, he was in his seventh year of college)

That wasn't real though it was fictional so in real life its completely different more than less.

At least I'm friends with the brothers of AEPi though not a brother myself.

I've been to a few frat parties myself - a Theta Chi party at Davis and a few PKP parties at SF State. I would never join a frat, since I see them as one big drunken Abercrombie and Hollister fest. There's better ways to socialize.

When I see some college kid all drunk and in head to toe Abercrombie or Hollister, there's a good chance he's a frat rat.

I joined a sorority, Sigma Lambda Sigma, which is a service sorority. They have chapters at Northern Illinois University and Lake Superior State University in Michigan. They also have an unactive chapter at Western Illinois University, where I joined in Spring 2003. I know people from different fraterities and sororities at WIU, especially the guys of Sigma Chi, who are so dear to me. In fact, I even present my program on autism to Sigma Chi and they enjoyed it a lot.

Like I said, they're a bunch of Hollister and Abercrombie clad idiots with a BAC high enough to get the whole classroom drunk. When I see someone in greek letters, that just screams as*hole to me. I'd rather be caught dead with HOLLISTER plastered across my chest than greek letters.
