What kinds of counseling jobs exist,

what do you actually do in them, and how well do they pay(in a range or approximately). I had a therapist and all we did was talk, ask questions, think about things, but i suspect there are other jobs than this.

You could be a school counselor, or work in a normal disability facility.

Social workers and psychologists mainly if you're focused on therapy.

If your focus is specifically on "talk therapy" like Cognitive-Behavioral instead of strict Behavioral Therapy, then you can get a bachelors in Psychology and either a Masters in Social Work so you can be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or your can get your PhD in Clinical Psychology (they no longer offer Masters level for Clinical Psych).

More and more people are just getting their MSW and LCSW instead of going all the way through a PhD program to be able to do exactly the same job.
