The Dell XPS 730x is the computer that I have. The Dell XPS is a line of high-end gaming computers sold by Dell. XPS is an acronym for Xtreme Performance System. The first XPS computer dates back to 1993. By around 2003-2004, the first XPS laptop was released, featuring desktop Pentium 4 processors. As of 2009, almost all Dell computers under the XPS line are now branded as Studio XPS, with the XPS One being the only remaining computer sold under the XPS brand.

except for the cheap GPUs cutting off a good deal of gaming power... even though there's two of 'em, they're still crappy... plus it's a Dell *shudders*

my stuff:

Main rig (Home built):
CPU: C2D E8400 @ 3.6 GHz
RAM: 4 GB Corsair XMS2 Dominator PC8500
Motherboard: ASUS P5-KC
GPU: AMD Radeon 4890
HDDs: 1x 250 GB WD caviar blue, 1x 640 GB Samsung F1, 1x 640 GB WD caviar blue
PSU: OCZ ModXStream 600W (going to be upgraded to an 600W 80 gold PSU soon)
OS: Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit

It's built for games and always was. My pain computer started out as a small office-ish computer I got for confirmation... first upgrade came two days later when I bought a new GPU to replace the sh***y onboard one, since then it's been upgraded and upgraded some more :)

Main laptop:
CPU: AMD Turion X2 2 GHz
RAM: 2 GB Nanya RAM (still original, thinking of upgrading to 4 gigs before DDR2 RAM gets too expensive)
GPU: AMD (then ATI) Radeon HD 2600
HDD: 320 GB WD Scorpio Black (originally had a 160 gig drive that now sits in my PS3)
OS: Windows 7 untimate 64-bit

Server (mainly for expermints and testing):
Dell poweredge 2600 (hey, I got it for free, like most of my hardware :D)
CPU: 1x 2 GHz Intel Xeon (it has room for two, but i'm having problems finding two socket 603 Xeons and an extra heatsink for reasonable money)
RAM: 1 GB Registered ECC DDR1 RAM (damn expensive to get more these days :()
HDDs: 5x 37 GB 15K USCSI-320 drives currently all in RAID 0 (I know that two of the drives are Seagate Cheetah drives, but I don't know about the other 3 because some ass put stickers on em and I haven't bothered taking them off)
OS: Currently Windows server 2003 by itself

old media PC:
CPU: AMD Sempron 2400+ ( had it OC'ed to almost 2400 MHz once, quite good for a Socket A Sempron actually)
RAM: 2 or 3 GB PC3200 I think
Motherboard: some Soltek motherboard, can't remember the model... it was one of the better socket A overclocking boards though...
GPU: GeForce 6600GT
Harddrives: 2 80 GB WD drives put in RAID 0
OS: Had Windows 7 last time I used it...

Old Faithful:
CPU: 1 GHz Pentium III
RAM: 512 MB Kingston PC 133 RAM
HDD: 40 GB
Old Faithful is my old laptop, it used to be my dad's work laptop and he gave it to me later on for use in college, This laptop has survived since 2001 with years of heavy use and still works quite nicely (well, apart from the DVD drive, it has trouble reading some disks).

Two Dell office PCs and a Dell subnotebook that I got for free

And a Commodore 64 :)

I am not very geeky when it comes to hardware.

My computer is...er...a laptop.

That's all I know about it. I don't know its specs.

On the brighter side, I have developed a new special interest in data encryption and online safety, and made up my own special geeky method of generating multiple (apparently) random passwords. I'm also developing a dislike for Windows, and thinking about changing my OS to Linux.

Can I join the gang and humbly stand in the corner to listen?

FREE POWER EDGE!!?!?!?!

It only has a CD drive.
So :(

I got it from my mum's workplace together with two other, less powerful servers, as they were headed for the dump anyways... the two other servers had numerous problems though (one had a busted CD-ROM drive and the other had a burned-out motherboard, so I salvaged useable parts from them... But the poweredge still works quite nicely, right now I use it as a testbench for websites.

The two other Dell machines, I got from my dad's workplace, on the condition that I wiped the harddrives completely (they got a thorough gov't wipe). One of them I kept because it used RAMBUS RAM ( I had a small business doing computer repairs at the time) and I needed a testbed for those, both of them have also served as Folding@home machines for a time
The Dell laptop I also got from my dad's workplace, together with an IBM thinkpad. I gave the thinkpad to my dad (it was the most powerful of the two) so he could use it for his music (recording, jamming, etc.), but I kept the Dell for myself because of its compactness and silence. I plan on using the laptop for a small webserver in the future...

As you can see, there's a distinct plus of being the nerd in the family :D
