I love politics

Politics = Poly, meaning many + Ticks, meaning blood sucking arachnoids. How appropriate!

Politics is one of the hot button topics--that is, it can lead to heated arguments. Whether to discuss it or not depends on the venue. Hot button topics should be avoided at work, and when in the company of people known to get too angry when discussing it.

Some other hot button topics to be careful about engaging in are:

- Religion
- Morals/Ethics
- Certain medical topics--like embryonic stem research and use.
- Abortion
- Race/ethnic
- Illegal immigration
- Wasteful gov spending in areas that are really not the gov's business.
- Gov attempts to take over ever more areas of life.
- Sports--yes, sports.
- Illegal drugs and laws regarding them.

I'm sure there are others, but this gets the idea across.

I do discuss politics with most of my immediate relatives, but have to avoid the topic with my sister and her husband. I prefer to avoid discussing politics with strangers, as I get very stressed by heated arguments. I also feel stressed by the stupidity of people who think everything the gov does is just wonderful, and oh we should give the gov even more power over our lives.

I don't think I am ready to deal with politics here on WP. They do have a forum here for political discussions, though, so you should check it out.
