My sight is very poor. It was okay until I was about 10 years old then declined very rapidly or a while. Now it is still declining but at a slower rate.
Anyone registered partially sighted?

Found out I needed glasses when I was in the service. Couldn't shoot worth a darn & lo-and-behold, the eye chart showed I was near sighted.

I've ALWAYS needed sunglasses but in the past 2 decades it has gotten to the point where I don't go outside without sunny's on ('cause nowadays I wear contact lenses).

I've been wearing glasses since I was seven -- very myopic. Tried contacts for awhile but they just didn't work for me. The past few years I've gotten extremely sensitive to bright lights so now I wear sunglasses all the time.

I got my first pair aged 17 or 18 to correct my short sightedness and it has declined over the years. I am now finding my reading of small print a problem and will soon be requiring bi-focals.
I also wear silicone contacts so will need reading glasses for when I wear those.
Expensive time !

Just wondering if more Wrongplanet members wear glasses. I'm interested if their is a link between vision problems and autism. If you wear contacts normally, put "yes". I was told that I had "excellent vision" last time I got it tested.

I was reading a book with tiny printing and I wasn't having too much trouble with it, but someone else was reading to me once and she was having a hard time. (She doesn't wear glasses that I know of) so I agree.

Statistics show that in the Netherlands around 12% of under 13-year olds wear glasses, and around 30% of 30- to 40-year olds.
Significantly lower than those with AS.
So yes, I think that one could conclude that there is a relationship between autism and eyesight.

I started wearing glasses when I was 11.

What is really annoying is that teachers at school always put the people with the worst eyesight at the back. :? My friend who also wears glasses keeps noticing that!

M vision started worsening when I was 10, but I didn't get glasses until I was 13. Scratch that, I have BIFOCALS!! ! I can't stand wearing them! Some people even say that I look like younger with them on -___- Hence, I don't wear my glasses when I go out unless one of my friends requests me to.

I wear glasses to drive and see far away. I'm supposed to wear them for any seeing I do that isn't reading or sewing or something close up. However, I really don't wear them. I need new ones. The dogs have chewed on the ear pieces and that makes them prickly feeling on my ears, and I got these back in 98 and they are a wire silver frame style so they are bent kind of our of shape and really small call that was the style.

I don't wear them at all except rarely. Sometimes if I'm watching TV and I'm tired of squinting, I'll put them on. Sometimes if I'm driving somewhere I'm not familiar with I'll put them on, or always at night if I'm driving if I can find them.

Now I also wear glasses to read and do close up stuff. I get the reading glasses at the store. I wear the 2.25 strength so far.

My husband wears bifocals but there is no way I would wear them. Ever. It would drive me crazy because any smuge or anything on my glasses bothers me. Being partially a whole other lens sure would!

I have presbyopia. I started wearing glasses last year. Same with my sister, who is the same age as I. We inherited this from our father.

I've had glasses that I use for long distance since I was about 12, I just wear them whenever I want :)

No, but that could change. Then again, it might not, since I'm 15 already.

Since I was eight. My eyes are pretty bad. I went to an Alice in Wonderland play with my grandparents and afterwards they said, "Wasn't the kitten cute?" I said, "What kitten?" Shortly thereafter I got glasses.
