When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

Asperger's is just a subset of autism in my book. So all Aspies are Auties. I've heard "Spectrumite" thrown around. Maybe we need new nicknames. Suggestions?

yep

[insert whereas-clauses] & considering:

1. what's the point of naming the fing after the finder, asperger's is a bit like calling christians johnthebaptists
2. asp v ass only decided by rather arbitrary cut-off point on bloody sliding scale - ame difference to me
3. personal preference of animals over tree
4. personal liking & recognition of eeyore

hence: ASS, i am an ass, what could be more appropriately beautiful

i'll revisit shortly, upon having self-dx shrunk (cannot wait.....)

When I was 2 I was diagnosed with low functioning autism. The diagnoser said that I would never beable to read, write, speak or get on with anyone in the world. I guess no-one will believe me when I say I did ABA and learnt how to do just that. No-one ever does on here, I don't think. :( I bet some people believe I'm a .

I'm diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, but sometimes I think this might be a misdiagnosis. HFA might be better, or I might actually fall under PDD-NOS. In any case, I'm autistic.

I have Asprger's Syndrome, which in my eyes is a form of autism. I occasionally show some characteristics of Autism and 'NT' though.

I have High Functioning Autism (though sometimes I'll say I have Aspergers so I don't have to explain it every post), because I was severely Autistic for most of my childhood. With a lot of therapy and hard work, I'm very high functioning (I look like I have Aspergers), but my past makes it that I have High Functioning Autism.
