I recieved numerous hugs as a child, I didnt want them, but I suppose I preferred a firm but short hug to any other

Hugged a lot. And I hated it and fought to get away. I approve any and all hugs that I get; if they're not approved I don't reciprocate and will actively fight back. I actually ended up with a maneuver where I'd just let my entire body go limp and I'd fall to the ground, which would often make it appear as if the hugger had harmed me, and it would discourage further hugging. Sad, I know

A little.

I was hugged frequently as a baby, but it tended to be met with aloofness.
I grew increasingly resistant to being hugged as I aged, so physical affection became increasingly rare.

my mother is also aspie. she didn't like physical contact much, although she tried a bit. other family memebers were a bit huggier but there was not a lot on a daily basis. people hug me now- though i'm unlikely to initiate - although i try a bit - but i like it when certian people hug me.

I selected hardly ever. First they had to catch me and then they had to fight me to get one.
Many attempts we're made but I put a stop to most of them.

My Mother wasnt even allowed to play with me, let alone hug me.
It was sad to find however, a few years back when I got my notes from the Church of England Childrens Society, it said that evry hour, I would stop playing, search out a particular house matron, and give her a hug, so it must have been an unfullfillled need.
It is one of the dangers of some Children with Reactive Detachment Disorder, that they will hug perfect strangers, the notes say that when I was being assessed by the lady psycotherapist, I gradually worked my way around the table until I ended up sitting on her knee, a perfect stranger.

I feel sorry for modern children deprived of physical contact from thier parents, that due to the 1 in a thousand danger of inappropreate touching, adults are not allowed to comfort such children at all now, leaving them to maybe die from lack of affection like those Romanian children do.

I don't recall my dad ever hugging me, but knowing what I know now, I believe it was he who I inherited my AS from....he was not an emotional person by any means. My mom would give me the occasional reassuring hug or squeeze, but I think most of the time I kinda pulled away.

I actually do have one recollection of this very topic, of when I was about 12-13...my mom tried to hug me and I pulled away, and I distinctly remember her telling me that I was going to have a wife some day who was going to want to hug, and I shouldn't be so against them. Based on that statement, I'm surmising that my aversion to human contact goes back farther.

I was (and still am) hugged a lot. I would wipe off kisses, though, and still do sometimes. I only like initiating hugs, and I only hug family members.

I grew up in a post-dysfunctional family, but they are a loving bunch too. So yeah, I was hugged a lot as a child.

I only remember one hug but I don't have many childhood memories.

My family were affectionate with me, but I tended to shrug it off.
