When I was 2 I was diagnosed with low functioning autism. The diagnoser said that I would never beable to read, write, speak or get on with anyone in the world. I guess no-one will believe me when I say I did ABA and learnt how to do just that. No-one ever does on here, I don't think. :( I bet some people believe I'm a .

I was diagnosised with LFA (Really really really bad) at 18 months, and I'm actually not sure of the therapy I was in - I didn't/still don't really care about it.
Now I can laugh in those doctor who said that I would have to be sent to an institute because of the severity of my Autism :D

Aspie, LOUD AND PROUD.
Having said that though, as far as I know both Asperger's and Autism are on the same spectrum so I tend to stick us all in the same box.
Misdiagnosed with ADHD when I was younger though.

I'm DXd with AS, but only because I was DXd so late in life, In my mid-thirties.
As a kid, I was much more classically autistic, but hardly anything was known about autism in the 70s, so I was just a "weird" kid, and a problem child.
A lot of it was explained with my "giftedness" and my parents divorce.

As far as I'm concerned the functioning labels are bollocks.

considered ret*d, weird and just plain crazy since 1950
Diagnosis of Manic Depressive ( what Bi Polar was called then)rejected in 1983
Diagnosed mild cyclothemic (which is mild Bi Polar) in 1993
suspected Asperger's Syndrome since 2006
diagnosed Asperger's Syndrome in 2008 ( and not one whit of BiPolar mentinoned)

I seem to have the 'flavor of the year' diagnoisis. I wonder what it will be in 2020.
