Just wondering if more Wrongplanet members wear glasses. I'm interested if their is a link between vision problems and autism. If you wear contacts normally, put "yes". I was told that I had "excellent vision" last time I got it tested.

I was reading a book with tiny printing and I wasn't having too much trouble with it, but someone else was reading to me once and she was having a hard time. (She doesn't wear glasses that I know of) so I agree.

i am the only one out of all my family and relations, to NOT wear glasses, going back over a hundred years. but i am also the only one out of 'em all, to constantly need to be wearing sunglasses outdoors, even in overcast weather.

I started wearing glasses when I was nine years old, and wore them until my senior year in high school. I have since stopped wearing them, but my parents think I should continue to wear them because, to be honest, my vision is a little better with glasses. My left-eye vision is horrible.

I started wearing glasses when I was 5. They were these huge glasses that were about the size of my head. My elementary school pictures are terribly dorky. :nerdy:

Yes; I started wearing them when I was in late elementary school. But glasses are common in my family anyway.

I started to lose the most part of my eyesight at age 9 or 10, and often had to get new glasses because my eyesight declined so rapidly

the decline stopped when I was about 15, and I now use glasses with -9.25dpt. and -8.75 dpt. for left and right eye respectively.

on the plus side, i'm entitled to free laser eye surgery, and I have been strongly considering it :)

Ive been wearing my eyes down by reading any and all books that I can find, so now my vision is so bad that I cant see anything that is more that 12 inches away without my glasses.

I figured out that Titanium frames are more expensive, but worth it; and getting glasses with big lenses may look dorky, but they give you a better range in your line of sight; and if you get those large, Titanium frames in a slightly rectangular shape, it looks awesome.

I got my first pair at age nine, and my mother burst into tears when I asked, "Is that our house?!" from about a quarter-mile away on our way back home.

I started wearing glasses at the age of 8, though I actually needed them since age 6. More than half of my family are wearing glasses anyway, so I donlt think it links with autism, at least not in my case. After all, my grandmother and my father, both textbook Aspies, had wonderful eyesight throughout their lives, while me and my adpergic cousin started wearing glasses before age 10.

I'm currently the only person in my family that doesn't at least wear glasses for reading. I wouldn't be surprised if it came to pass that I needed them too.

I've never worn glasses.
