Ok the story. I have had Extropica squint in both eyes since birth for those who dont know its called turned outward eyes. My eyes did not focus together but because i was born with it i escaped double vision. I got corrective surgery to put the eyes in normal position four monthss ago but i was left with permanant Diplopia (double vision) glass's and eye therapy will not fix this another doezen of operations are likely. I have been left in the meantime with aching eyes and migrains nearly every day and now I have been assesed as unable to drive or do close up work for a long time (even thru I like discussing on WP).

My doctor gave me a recommendation for a disability employment agency. Does antone know what process im likely to go thru there? My doctor also told me she strongly suppected autism yesterday and i denied it cause i was afraid of having to go thru that painful diagnosing process. What with my eyes i already had enough to deal with.

Centerlink and my doctor think i should be on a disability payment as well but i dont know if i deserve it. I don't exactly contribute finacially to the country and i think im already asking to much. I mean there are other people much worse.

If anyone has any ideas PLEASE PLEASE dont hesitate to comment thankyou.

Think of it this way

  • A doctor thinks you need something
  • You don't have the ability to pay for it
  • There is assistance available if you want it

Take it!

If you feel responsible (I hate to have anyone pay for anything for me too) make sure that you do what you can to pay it back. (and by pay I don't necessarily mean money) Consider it a loan without a contract.

If the doctor thinks you need it, you probably need it. Don't feel guilty. This is what disability is for - to help people like you. Maybe you won't need it for a really long time, but right now you do, so use it!

Your teachers, the police, the entire medical sector, the military, giant corporations, and every politician takes millions of dollars from the public purse on a daily basis.

This money will not magically go back in the hands of the taxpayers if you do not take it. Plus, if you do take it, it won't be used to kill people overseas or pay the salaries of professional child abusers.

Do the world a favour and take care of yourself.

Agreed, but I think I remember your pledging allegiance to Canadia and the taxes are much higher up there. read: you're getting shaken down a lot harder.

you have to admit that it's somewhat heartening (a phrase I use loosely since I apparently don't have one), however, to see someone hesitant to take aid instead of hoarding all they can get :x

"Canadia" :lol: :lol: :lol:

True, we are taxed at a much higher rate than most of the US, but I could tell from her spelling and word choice that she was not American, I think she's in the UK. They get it hard and deep like we do.

Oh, for the record I don't pledge allegiance to anyone unless I choose to. I am a sovereign person, my own highest authority, just like everyone else.

Oh, for sure. I mean, the fact that she posted this and was worried about the welfare of everyone else being affected by her needs, damn, breaks your heart.

I'm an anarchist now, but I was a Conservative voter and a libertarian for many years, and I'm still not a fan of the welfare state, or any facet of the state for that matter. I'm not advocating living like a welfare bum, I'm just advocating a certain strategy that uses the state against itself - guerrilla life.

A guerrilla uses the enemy's strength as a weapon against itself; transforms their own weakness into strength. A large enemy is also an enemy that is slow to respond and react. An enemy in a fortress in an enemy in a prison of their own making. The VC used discarded tin cans dropped by US soldiers to fashion booby traps - garbage weapons. This is why guerrillas are rarely defeated., because they fight in ways that let them win.

And, if you are worried about the costs to the state, think about how much it costs to put someone through high school; if they go to a state college, how much does that cost taxpayers?

People on the autism spectrum are vastly overrepresented in the areas of criminality and addiction, and I think getting housing and food with enough left over for an internet connection would do vastly more good for autistics than any school ever could. In the meantime, one could work under the table for extras, using their time for self-improvement and self-education.

When we delve into our obsessions without apology we are becoming what they most fear, and what we most need to be. People are scared of us for good reasons.

The Viet Cong's greatest weapon was their tunnel system, hidden, segmented and cellular. We need tunnel networks too, although ours need not be physical in nature, simply an unseen parallel world right under their noses, a place to regroup and seek shelter, to plan and grow strong. We can't beat them at their game, so we need to make them play ours.

And we don't need to hurt anyone to do it either - just steal their garbage.

The last thing you are is heartless; being against theft and injustice is a pretty rational position to take.

Oh, I just meant that you weren't American, that you use Commonwealth spelling like "colour" where Americans use "color", that's all. We weren't criticising you, it's okay.

I'm jealous of you right now because in Canada it's winter and for you it's summer. I hate the cold, and I've always wanted to go to Australia, just hang out in the desert and be warm the rest of my life. :)

I'm so glad! I can tell you're one of those people that NEEDS to feel useful, and that you're going to use it to better yourself. Good stuff.
