If you are looking for a job or looking for an employee or business partner, post your needs in this thread.

I was thinking that there are a lot of people on this forum who could be very successful in a job or task but don’t get the chance to because we don’t have the ability to actually get those jobs for reasons that have nothing really to do with competence. Then I thought: some of the people on this forum must have their own companies or be in positions to make hiring decisions, and who better to recognize and capitalize on the unique talents of Aspies than other Aspies?

It seems as though to get a decent job you either need to know someone or you need to be good at (and not prohibitively afraid of) the interview process. Both of those things are pretty much the opposite of what people with Asperger’s are good at. But even though we don’t really relate to most people, we do know or at least understand each other. So why not use those connections to bypass the bad part: schmoozing your way into a job that you can do well, and go straight to the good part: actually doing a job that you can and will do well.

So if anybody needs a job or has a job available or knows of one that that might be a good fit, post it in this thread along with any relevant information.

I'll go first since I really need a job.

I am 25 and currently live in California but I really don't care where in the world I work as long as:

a)I make enough money to not starve/freeze to death
b) I have access to a large number of problems or inefficiencies which I am allowed or encouraged to find ways to solve (I've concluded that that is all that I really need to be happy in life)
c) I don't have to talk on the phone or if I do, only for well defined purposes

-Actually b and c are negotiable if the job is mildly pleasant and serves the purpose of continuing my existence on this planet which seems at present to be a worthwhile endeavor.

My occupational history is a rather bizarre sequence of non-sequiturs which really doesn't have much of anything to do with what I am capable/incapable of so I will leave it out.

My non-compulsory education consists of two incomplete degrees from two different universities, one in chemisty and the other in business.

So far I guess this isn't exactly screaming "Hire me".
I never said that I would be the greatest employee in the world, but I certainly wouldn't be the worst either. A ringing endorsement if I ever heard one. Then again, honesty can be a pretty useful trait.

Maybe I should write a list of potentially useful/good/economically advantageous personal qualities.

List:
Reading- I will read and absorb any literature you have available on ways to improve on whatever my job might be.

Problem Solving-Like I said before, all I really want to do is find real-life puzzles and figure them out. I have submitted one patent application and worked on several others; not to mention the mountain of potential ideas I have stored in various notebooks, computer files, and back alleys of my brain.
I am actually waiting to hear back from a company that might want to hire me as a well paid consultant, even though I have no skills or experience to speak of, because of something I "invented" which they might want to market, but the chances of it working out are not really worth betting on.

Writing- Most people seem to find the way I write compelling or worth complimenting and remarking upon in some manner. Which makes sense because the written word is really the only way that I feel like I can actually express my thoughts. I am however capable of moments of sublime eloquence whilst talking to myself.

There’s a lot more I could say but this seems long enough and should be enough to hopefully at least begin a conversation that might lead to some sort of gainful employment.

I have a job at the moment, but nice thread.

I consider myself almost unemployable, despite my many talents (that's what I call them). After about 2 years of nothing but rejected applications, I went to a barn. Horses are my fallback, where I go when all else fails.

This time the pay's actually good, so it turned out okay.
(Always before I was way under min wage.)

I think this is a good idea, and don't forget web based work.

I will pay people to do things, but I am such a recluse. Mostly I am looking for artists. I have been publishing books for a few years, and have discovered it is a business.

Most of what I do is motorcycle related, but I have a comic in the works, which can use a varity of art.

I am making another business from high end printing, Fine Art Prints. I am doing the best of the best.

Employing people gets into lots of paperwork, and maybe even having to see them, which I find frightening.

People are expensive, and good machines more like me. The problem is someone has to run the machines.

I also hold patents, and have one in development, which likes money. In a few months it will need people.

Problem solver, how does a recluse expand? So far it is all me, and it all gets done, which takes all of my time, soon the business will double again, and I will not.

I have considered Autistic Enterprises, considering who designed the company they would fit in, if they liked machines, could work alone, and not bother me. I do not care if I am in the next room, send me an email, speaking can ruin a whole day.

For now I need human figures drawn, trees, animals.

In the near future printing, but this is the far upper end of printing, and soon, plastic injection molding.

So far machines are a better deal, but there will come a time for humans.

Autistic people seem less annoying.

Why not?

As some of you may already know, I have a degree in computer engineering. My passion is hardware design. However, I am having a rather difficult time locating suitable employment.

I have essentially been playing with electronics since I was a child. I was making radios when I was still in grade school, and have progressed to more and more complicated projects. Designing and tinkering with electronics is one of the things that makes me happy with life.

In addition to my hobbiest experience, I have been previously employed at Nortel and two startup companies. This has allowed me to become familiar with both digital and analog design. One area that I have particular experience in is DC/DC power conversion. I have also worked with audio frequency power amplification, hot-swapping concerns, and obsolecence solutions. In addition, I do have some experience with software design both low level and high level.

I think that there are three particular reasons why I am well suited to this field. Once is the fact that I have found that when designing electronics, the devil is in the details. This meshes nicely with the fact that I am detail-orientated. The smallest detail can result in a design not functioning, or not functioning as desired. This gives me free reign to concentrate on a sucessive line of small details.

The second reason is the constantly changing nature of the field. This allows me to constantly learn. It is rather important to me that I am always learning. Due to this, I am constantly reading application notes, trade materials, and even journal articles regarding various aspects of my field. I do this for its own enjoyment. Thus, when it comes time to research for a project, or learn new concepts and abilities for it, I am there with gusto. I also have a tendency to take this sort of material home, and continue it on my own time. It is enjoyable to the point where I hardly consider it as work.

The last reason is my tendency to view problems from unique angles. This allows me to consider different and bizarre solutions. I will admit that these new solutions are not always the best solution. However, it does widen the field of available end results. Also, when these different solutions are beneficial, they have a tendancy to be completely novel in nature. My previous novel solutions range from using components in unique and unintended manners to redesigning concepts entirely.

I am essentially willing to relocate to Timbuktu if there were a desireable position attached with it.

Any with questions or wishing further details may PM me.

Hey, I might as well give this a go! What's there to lose? :D

OK first off I live in Houston Texas with my Texan wife who is mid-career, and so cannot relocate. I am a Legal US Permanent Resident with a Green Card, but I am about to take US Citizenship.

I am a Computer Technician by trade, usual stuff break-fix PC Repairs/Printers/Installation, web design, Software Support, MS Windows, MS Office, Anti-virus, Spy-ware etc. Worked in Desktop Support, and general Administrative Office work. I've also done CSA Support for an ISP.

I'm a UK born graduate in Computer Engineering and I also hold a British degree in Sales & Marketing. The Sales & Marketing course gave me the social skills that I was severely lacking. As well as Comptia A+.

I have 3 books in print one of them in Physics, which says something about the strange niche topics, that I like to read.

I'm always well turned out and punctual, and have a Professional outlook.

I would be looking for an Administrative or Computing Support position, but open to offers really.

I would like to find a job in Houston, TX, but would also consider working remotely, since I have a spare room we use as an office with bb connection. :D
