I want to be a computer programmer specializing in optimization techniques. If that fails my next dream job is being a musician playing either folk, blues or jazz.

My dream job would be owning enough rental property to not have to work, and support my special interest of the moment.

I have my dream job now. I build stuff at a research facility. I get to do design, fabrication, integration, every part of it. I get to do my own research and publish when the research pans out. The hours can be long, but no two days are the same and no two projects are the same. I have an absolute blast.

Elaborate. What degrees do you have relevant to it... and what stuff do you work on? Sounds awesome :)

There was one job I was very sad I didn't get a few years ago simply because I had to drop Japanese as my minor due to scheduling conflicts with my major courses and was therefore not close enough to fluency for a company called Novellus to hire me. They make the machines that make semiconductors, and my job would have been traveling around Japan, making sure their equipment was installed and running properly.

That too would be just as awesome!

I currently enjoy my work in technical support in a call center. Dream job? Maybe not, sometimes I return home and shout expletives on the way back to calm down... but it is a good job and often I ilke it.

1. SF/Fantasy novelist
2. Costume maker/archivist
3. Anything which involves little social contact, but pays £16,000+ and is close to where I live!

Strangely, I'm closer to the novelist than anything  .
