I think my dream job would be running a horse rescue. Rehabilitating horses, training them, and finding them new homes.

Autism specialist/university professor. Not only do I want to help people like me function more easily with neurotypicals, I want to educate neurotypicals and really make them see that we're not all what they see in movies.

I'm on the path already! I'm a school-based SLP.

Second choice would be emergency medicine physician.

I don't have one. I just want to take lots of road trips.

I used to be really passionate about working on movies, but I've done so many and it's sort of become a dead-end for the time being.... I don't really care anymore, I just want to travel.

My dream job would be to do paintings for a living, and to have my own jewelry line as a second job.

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a marine biologist. I still like the idea of doing research out at sea for months at a time.

I think now... I'd like to be a data scientist. Researching, reporting... occasionally going to seminars or conferences with other data geeks. I'd be down with that.

I do some of that in my current job, but, I also have to deal with a lot of stupid people and play nice with them. That, compounded by some boring work, makes me want out.
Also, being the only female on the engineering team, I get interrupted CONSTANTLY by people asking questions because they assume I'm one of the receptionists or because they think women are more approachable and happy to help.
It takes a lot of effort to respond pleasantly when I am interrupted while concentrating.

Dood... nice.

For one of my classes last year (finishing up a bachelor's in Computer Science Management), Database Analysis and Design, we had to interview a DBA for a report and presentation.
I came to find out that my company has 9 DBA's on staff. I ended up interviewing two of them, since they were both willing to speak with me.

:-D Their work is complex and very important to our operations, but, most people don't even know that they're there. They both said they love their work and wouldn't want to do anything else.
Of course, they both also said one source of never-ending frustration for them was the users they had to work with when setting up or reworking any of the applications accessing the databases... mostly frustrated by the ignorance of the users requesting changes that would break other things or something.

Strangely, I'm closer to the novelist than anything  .
I've always been compelled to write, but, really, find it a painful process. :-(

I have been able to work on a couple of books (software, because I have no imagination ;-) )... but, realize, I am much more suited to being a Technical Editor than an author.

I really admire you people who can write. :coffee:
