I'm 49, unemployed. I believe I'm an Aspie, but won't know results of testing until tomorrow. I would love to be able to get a job where I am not bullied or made fun of ever again. I also do not want to deal with the general public. I've had more years doing that than I care to remember. It's just not for me.

Aspie Score: 173/200, NT score 31/200: very likely an Aspie
5/18/11: New Aspie test: 72/72
DX: Anxiety plus ADHD/Aspergers: inconclusive

19 year old unemployed Aspie.

I live in a tech town with a lot of job openings but almost all of them require some sort of college degree, and I can't go to college without having money ie. a job...

I am twenty years old, employed but struggling (cashiering is a painfully social vocation where one is subject to customers who are angry and feel the need to cuss you, the cashier, out because they don't know how to read and will not take "I'm sorry, this is not 2 for 3 dollars. You looked at the wrong sign. These are actually $3.47 a piece...I can show you if you would like me to." for an answer), and I have Asperger's Syndrome, panic disorder, and some other things thrown in for good measure. Cheers.

I'm 30, and been unemployed for about one year and 2 months. I left my old job, but no regrets.

It's been hard finding a job because of the economy, and interviews are not my forte. I'm getting very resentful towards interviewers who focus on mere superficial impressions and not intelligence, experience, and work skills.

I'm 24, unemployed (by choice), and an Aspie.

I've tried working multiple times but it increases my psych symptoms and then I have to quit. (I have Schizoaffective Disorder on top of the Asperger's)

I'm on disability income.

I am 21 years old, never had a job, and an Aspie.

My younger brother isn't an aspie and has never had a job either and he has been filling out applications for over year and has only got one job interview and it's expensive where we live. Sometimes I hate California...

I'm 19 years old, unemployed, and an Aspie.

I live in the UK and am on JSA (Job Seekers Allowance/benefits) and am expected to take 6 steps every two weeks towards finding a job. When I say steps, I mean things like sending CVs and going to interviews and things like that. It doesn't sound like a lot, but when the only jobs that I'd be able to do are things in direct conflict with my AS (retail=socialising/data input or admin work=executive function/leaving the house at all=anxiety) this makes me extremely depressed.

Whats worse is that I know I can't handle a job right now, but I still need to live, so this is basically forced on me. I've been getting increasingly depressed over the passed months, I've even been having faint spells from stress and anxiety. I feel suicidal when I'm really down, and although I know I wont act on my thoughts/desires, the fact that I feel that way at all is terrifying.

I feel like everyone thinks I'me just lazy, but I'd happily work from home... But I have no skills and there's not a lot I can actually do from home that won't cause no end of stress.
I'm afraid to go to my doctor because I don't think he takes me seriously and I think he will brush me off...

27 years old, recent college grad and unemployed.

I have had a small stint of doing summer jobs but something i have learned in my job hunt is that if you don't have any internships, you have a snowball's chance in the the suns core of getting the job. i got interviewed by some of the top names of the IT sector but i just came up short. I have been doing a second round of applications in which i will know some results come October. If all else fails, il have to resort to a call center for work.

I am not even considered unemployed because of how little I have worked....longest job I had lasted a couple semesters because it was work-study. Just can't seem to keep a job for any amount of time.

Im 21 unemployed and an Aspie. The DWP volunteered me for four weeks in a charity shop that I enjoyed moderately. I was put in charge of the clothing in the back and the shop display.

I mainly did the cleaning with a steamer, the kind of monotonous tunnel visioned task which I love. The movement around the back room was easy to blot out when it was me, the steamer and my Sharpe novel. I kind of miss it, a balance between having something to do and having free time would be nice.

Ive been unemployed bar that four weeks for three years. Nobody will give me a chance, doesnt matter how smart I am, how hard working I am, how polite I am. I think most management are scared of intelligent and honest people like us.

I'm 33 years old, unemployed, and an Aspie. The only people who want me for a job are people who are trying to scam me in some way.
