I got this new job working at a university 2 months ago, and in those two months two other people I work with have quit to pursue more lucrative jobs doing the same thing at other universities . . . so my boss calls me in with good news today and I thought 'Ah - this is the little raise speech' and, sure enough, that is how it started out . . . and you guys that work know how that goes - they will say you are getting a cost of living raise and it is a whole .25 cents an hour or something . . .
Well - this one was $11,000 a year - granted, I'm still not going to be rich - in fact, this gets me back to the level of my previous job, but seeing as how I had settled into the 'eating ramen and sitting in the dark' routine, I'm pretty damned happy
