I've been thinking about this very thing recently and have been thinking about what it would take to put something like this together. It really depends on what sorts of things people with AS are doing, the potential market for their SI, and what sort of support they need. I've been thinking that an investment fund cum incubator could be successful and attract interest. My problem is that I'm horrible at promoting my ideas, even though I'm years ahead of everyone else, so an incubator like I describe would be ideal.
Oddly, I am incredibly gifted at marketing and networking. I have no problem with business relationships; mainly because business relationships don't follow the social norms of personal relationships. Just don't ask me to approach a girl at a bar, ha!
I am told that I would make an incredible investment banker. I just can't deal with the stress of being an "eat what you kill" type of employee, with the pressures that come with that...
back on topic: Giving a truly gifted person the green light (and funding, support, etc) to proceed on their project with the intention of commercializing it is incredibly interesting. A VC fund for gifted individuals? sign me up.
