your story is exactly why job hunting makes me want to kill everyone. i know a lot of my posts have been bleak tonight (dearest moderators, be patient with me) but I have been job hunting all day. It really gets old. I use the clearest language I can and nobody understands what I'm saying. It's like NTs have a language use system that they don't explain. It gets old.

As far as advice, the only I can offer is to read a book. I'm currently in a position of being stubborn. I don't want to appear NT just to earn an income. I've been homeless and unemployed long enough that I don't care if I live only on social security. I also feel that my contribution to the economy has more to do with the economy than any physical benefit I could derive from a larger income... it's like they're playing a game and there's no way for us to win. Honestly, I hate it.

The last interview I was in, I lost the "job" (an assistantship that would have given me school funding) and I found out who I lost it to and got to know the person I would have worked for. It was clear that I lost the job because I was #1, a woman, #2, too smart, and #3, too assertive. It may sound conceited to say I was "too smart" but that really is a thing. A lot of people don't like smart women, especially in an academic setting. No one likes to be around someone who makes them feel small.

Sometimes you're just not what they're looking for, and you don't want to be. I don't want to be a dude, or dumb, or spineless. People might like me more if I were those things, but *I* wouldn't like me.

The right job will come along. The right people will appreciate you.

Update: so I finally got a job at a factory that hires through a temp agency. It's an aluminum foundry, luckily I got to choose not to work in the actual foundry area because it is really hot in there and I don't think I could stand that. But I'll be making 13.50/hr so now I'm kinda glad no other place wanted me.

I'd still like to eventually get an IT job of some kind though. I can do unskilled labor jobs but I don't enjoy them much.

That sounds kind of awesome though. I bet it looks cool in there.

Go to a temp agency. Also, don't try to be too perfect and too right on the personality test thing. Don't say you would steal or have stolen but you have to do something to you don't come across like you are lying because some places will disqualify you for doing all the right answers because their key says to. It's by some experts or some s**t. It doesn't mean anything, just take a good guess and try to answer it like a regular guy would.

Cool, I bet that is a relief if you were literally completely broke not bad wages either.

I'm planning on applying next year, I wanted to work for a little while and save some money before I go.

I'm still not sure what I want to study. I don't think I'm going to do speech pathology but I'm still undecided. I'm mostly trying to choose between doing a music major or a computer science major, those are the only two I feel like I'd be interested in.

You see?

Life isn't all about failure.

You've accomplished much over the past few months.

Hi. I'm a professional recruiter and an expert at job searches. I'm also an Autie.

If you compile specific questions, I will answer every one of them to the best of my ability. :D
